Reflecting the power of inclusion through sport, 75 golfers gathered on June 1 at The Olympic Club’s world-famous Lake Course to support Easterseals Northern California (ESNorCal) and raise critical funds for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.
The annual tournament brought together ESNorCal program participants, community supporters and sponsors – including presenting sponsor Provident Credit Union – for not only a day of golf, but of connection and deep purpose. By the close of the day, the event had raised nearly $160,000 to help expand access to essential family services and support programs throughout Northern California.

Welcome remarks were given by Trent Iden, Executive Vice President of Operations for Catalight, ESNorCal’s parent organization, before the shotgun start took place, reminding golfers of the important cause the day’s activities supported. “Fundraisers like these really drive home the idea that inclusion in every space, including sports, makes a big difference in our communities,” said Iden about the event. “It’s why we’re so proud of the work we do with Easterseals NorCal, our partners and those who donate to support the cause.”
The event also highlighted the role sports can play in building community and creating opportunities for people of all abilities to participate and thrive. Families, volunteers, local business leaders and board members from across the ESNorCal family of organizations joined the celebration, including Provident Credit Union CEO Jim Ernest, who shared in recognizing the impact of the organization’s mission.
“The Driving Change Golf Classic is more than just a day on the course – it’s a powerful opportunity for our community to come together and make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families served by Easterseals Northern California,” said Ernest. “We are excited to be part of an event that drives awareness and resources to such a vital cause.”
The tournament experience extended beyond the course, with activities that reflected the event’s commitment to inclusion, connection and community. Morgan Stanley’s Golf for All activity welcomed participants and their family members from ESNorCal’s Kaleidoscope Community Adult Program to join golfers on the putting green in an accessible and engaging golf experience. Throughout the day, attendees also embraced on-course fundraising opportunities, including a long-drive challenge that helped generate more than $10,000 in additional support for ESNorCal’s programs and services.
“We couldn’t have imagined a better day,” said Kalina Hatzell, Vice President of Programs at ESNorCal, who also gave the closing remarks at the end of the tournament. “The support we saw from our guests and sponsors was unmatched, which is critical year-round for our organization. We’re providing the direct services that change lives of individuals and families, and we thrive on donations to do so. With next year marking 100 years of service, we can’t thank our supporters enough.”
A big thank you to all our generous sponsors, attendees, donors and volunteers at this year’s event. Inclusion can truly be found anywhere we commit to celebrating it – even the greens.
